HOT97
In June of 2015, BML-Blackbird provided Trevanna Entertainment with an extensive equipment rental for Hot 97’s annual Summer Jam concert. The NYC event lighting rental, consisting of lighting consoles, strobe lights, spot lights, truss, conventional fixtures, power distribution and more, helped bring multiple stages to life both in and outside of MetLife Stadium. The concert, considered NJ and NY’s hottest hip hop event of the year, saw big acts such as Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Big Sean, Meek Mill, Childish Gambino, Travi$ Scott and B.O.B. grace the stages in front of a sold-out crowd.
Being one of the biggest hip hop concerts on the East Coast, providing support for Summer Jam was no small feat for us, even though we have worked the event for multiple years. We provided our equipment and equipment manager to work closely with Trevanna’s designers and production staff to assure that all phases of technical prep were accounted for and that each stage ran smoothly and efficiently.
Governor’s Ball
BML-Blackbird helped the music-festival culture of New York start the summer off right with 3 days of production magic at the 2015 Governors Ball Music Festival at Randall’s Island Park in New York City. 20,000 people gathered during the first weekend of June to witness Drake headline on Friday with a career-spanning set. Innovative DJs Rustie and Flying Lotus carried the hyped crowd through Saturday and Sunday welcomed a true veteran to wrap up an unforgettable experience – Weird Al Yankovic.
BML-Blackbird has become the festival’s go-to for technical event production and NYC event lighting because of our continued success with the annual event since 2013. For months leading up to the big weekend, our Project Manager worked closely with the client every step of the way to make sure all of the stages and needs were taken care of seamlessly. We’re happy to report the festival went off without a hitch.
Pitbull at The Apollo
Trevanna Entertainment, on behalf of Sirius XM Radio, brought BML-Blackbird on for the launch of Pitbull’s brand new SiriusXM channel, Globalization, at the The Apollo Theater in Harlem in May 2015. At the invite-only event, we provided an extensive lighting package including more than 100 intelligent fixtures, a 20′ x 30′ 5mm LED wall, staging, power distribution, rigging and more to make for an incredible performance from Pitbull at the iconic theater.
In front of a packed house, the pressure was on to ensure the production elements for this NYC event lighting were nothing short of perfection. Pitbull brought the experience of a lifetime to his fan base in-person and over the airwaves with help from our technical event production magic. Thanks to our dedicated team here at BML-Blackbird, the event was a huge success.
