Lighting: Annual International Conference of Chabad Lubavitch Shluchim
For the past eight years, BML-Blackbird has worked with the International Conference of Chabad Lubavitch Shluchim as their go-to technical event production company in NYC. We produced their annual Gala Banquet in Brooklyn, typically held in a warehouse, by transforming an otherwise stark setting into an astonishing banquet hall for their guest list of over 5,000.
BML-Blackbird helps to do just that by providing all lighting, power distribution and rigging. Producer David Scharf, Event Designer Ronen Peled Hadad and Lighting Designer Alon Cohen create a stellar multi media environment. Equipment used to convert the space included over 430 fixtures and 2000 feet of truss with rigging. In addition to the sizable lighting build, we provided things such as power distribution for lighting, audio, video, practical lighting, computers, translation booths and a kosher kitchen serving 5,500 dinner guests.

BML-Blackbird joined forces with Eventage and the Avon Foundation for Women to provide LED repeater screens for the annual AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer in New York. The walk took place at Pier 84, the largest public pier in Hudson River Park. As an innovative technical event production company in NYC, we had to expand our vision and employ creative technical solutions for the unique circumstances that came with this outdoor venue.
With the great capabilities of an experienced team, we were able to hang an LED wall and cameras for the event, as well as provide image support for this incredible event. Despite the unconventional venue, we happily provided creative and professional visual services, but more importantly, contributed to the overall success of this wonderful event which attracts nearly 3,000 participants from all over the country and raises millions to accelerate breast cancer research and care for underserved populations in NYC and beyond.
Audio: GenR Summer Party 2015
In July 2015, BML-Blackbird teamed up with the IRC for the spectacular GenR Summer Party. It was the fourth year in a row that we were asked to provide services for this innovative party, which is among the annual series of fundraising events targeted specifically for the younger generation (an age group comprised of those 25 to 40).
GenR Summer Party is held outdoors at the popular David Burke Garden in Soho. The event is attended by more than 300 guests and features speakers with heartwarming stories. This year the speakers included a refugee who movingly shared his experience of being re-settled by the IRC. While the multi-level garden venue is a hip and attractive site, it presents many unique physical and audio challenges for a production team.
IRC required a trusted partner and experienced technical event production company in NYC, which is why they enlisted us for this event. BML-Blackbird delivered our signature high-quality audio and lighting services for the party to ensure that the speeches of these incredible speakers could be clearly heard and resonate throughout the venue. It’s important to note that the Garden is located in a residential area so audio levels had to be kept low so as to not disturb the neighbors, but loud enough so that the guests could understand the speeches. Keeping all this in mind, we were able to design an innovative system that provided even audio coverage to the entire venue. It was a daunting task, but we proudly achieved our goals.
