BML-Blackbird has been lucky enough to become one of the premier industry leaders of technical event production in New York over our past four decades of service. Whether it be concerts, corporate events, trade shows, large conferences or simply low-key public productions, our name always seems to make its way to the top of the list. Maybe it’s our experienced managers, relentlessly working crew, vast inventory of equipment or simply because we approach every job like it’s our only job.
Regardless, we have been lucky enough to work on and experience some magical moments throughout the years. At the end of the day, every event is special to us, but here are just a few of many that we’re proud of. Whether they were concerts, conferences or galas, BML-Blackbird played a role in bringing their technical event production in New York to life.
Annual International Conference of Chabad
For the past eight years, BML-Blackbird has done technical event production in New York with the International Conference of Chabad Lubavitch Shluchim producing their annual Gala Banquet in Brooklyn. With a guest list of over 5,000 people, the event is held in a warehouse. Transforming this raw space into a banquet hall is a substantial undertaking.
BML-Blackbird helps to do just that by providing all lighting, power distribution and rigging. Producer David Scharf, Event Designer Ronen Peled Hadad and Lighting Designer Alon Cohen create a stellar multi media environment. Equipment used to convert the space included over 430 fixtures and 2000 feet of truss with rigging. In addition to the sizable lighting build, we provided things such as power distribution for lighting, audio, video, practical lighting, computers, translation booths and a kosher kitchen serving 5,500 dinner guests.
The expertise of our staff has resulted in a successful event year after year, forming a great professional partnership.
Governor’s Ball
BML-Blackbird helped the music-festival culture of New York start the summer off right with 3 days of production magic at the 2015 Governors Ball Music Festival at Randall’s Island Park in New York City. 20,000 people gathered during the first weekend of June to witness Drake headline on Friday with a career-spanning set. Innovative DJs Rustie and Flying Lotus carried the hyped crowd through Saturday and Sunday welcomed a true veteran to wrap up an unforgettable experience – Weird Al Yankovic.
After successfully working the annual event since 2013, we became the festival’s go-to for technical event production in New York because of our strong knowledge of the festival grounds. For months leading up to the big weekend, our Project Manager worked closely with the client every step of the way to make sure all of the stages and needs were taken care of seamlessly. We’re happy to report the festival went off without a hitch.
David E. Monn
In November of 2014, BML-Blackbird teamed up with decorator David E. Monn for the Library Lions event held at the New York Public Library. We provided display, camera and recording services for this event, which honored those who contributed greatly to the New York Public Library that year, either through donations or literary works.
This event production in New York required an intricate design and setup. The event itself was very decorative, so we needed a screen design to match it. Because of the unique location, hanging the screen required some technical innovation as well. We were able to work through the obstacles that the venue presented and provide beautiful displays.
As you can see (or read), we’re not afraid to get our feet wet in a variety of industries. Although each client, venue and event has its own unique logistics, we carry out every job with the utmost attention to detail and preparedness to ensure every client is happy and welcomes us back to work their next event production in New York. If you or your company is currently seeking technical event production in New York, New Jersey or for a nationwide tour, rest assured you can put your trust in our team here at BML-Blackbird.
