There’s no doubt that 2015 was a busy year for our team here at BML-Blackbird, the leading technical event production company in NYC. From numerous concerts and events with the industry’s biggest names to traveling across country and winning a Parnelli Award for Lighting Company of the Year, we have had our fair share of memorable experiences.
With a schedule as busy as ours, it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly what we’re working on at any given time. Luckily, we’ve put together a little recap for some of the stand-out events of the year so you can see exactly what we’ve been up to! McDonald’s Gospel Fest
Every year, McDonald’s Corporation sponsors Gospelfest at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Since 2011, BML-Blackbird has been a part of the annual televised fundraising event, which is said to be the most spectacular gospel celebration in the country.
For the kickoff of the nationwide 2015 Inspiration Celebration Gospel Tour, BML-Blackbird provided equipment and rigging services to facilitate Tyler E. Littman of Sholight Entertainment Design’s vision. Equipment included 125 moving lights, over 600 feet of truss, 40 chain motors, power distribution and control.
Famous acts such as Cissy Houston, The Clark Sisters and Faith Evans joined some of the best gospel choirs in the country to inspire thousands at the star-studded weekend event. Our team, with decades of experience in technical event production in NYC, ensured the concert looked flawless, allowing the packed arena to enjoy the talented performers.
EDMBiz
In June of 2015, BML-Blackbird provided full-service event production for Insomniac at the EDMBiz conference in Las Vegas. The conference grew in the past two years from 450 to more than 600 attendees. This year, the event included high-profile speakers such as Austin Kramer from Spotify and CEO of Billboard, John Amato. It also drew rising artists such as Krewella and Nicky Romero.
Insomniac needed an experienced technical event production company in NYC that could handle it all, and after we handled the technical production so seamlessly for them last year, they knew we were the right fit. This event was a large expo combined with a conference, all happening at the same time under one roof.
Over the course of the two-day event, we provided innovative lighting and drape solutions, comprehensive audio and video services as well as production coordination. In addition to the work in conference, we utilized our audio and video expertise to construct a Delta Airlines DJ booth that became one of the focal points of the event.
God’s Love We Deliver
In June of 2015, we were honored to be a part of the opening of the brand new Michael Kors Building for God’s Love We Deliver, the New York City metropolitan area’s leading provider of nutritious, individually-tailored meals to people who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves.
The dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony included speeches from many high-profile guests, including New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, Melissa Rivers, Blaine Trump and Michael Kors himself.
The event took place outside on the sidewalk in front of the new building, so we were tasked with providing exceptional audio services outdoors on the very busy and noisy Avenue of the Americas.
Of course, even with clear audio, the speeches would have lost all their power without the right platform.
